Hugs from God
Prayer shawls have been used since ancient times to develop a sacred space to pray and be reminded of God's presence. Prayers for the recipient are part of the knitting process and shawls are blessed before presentation. We welcome all to join our ministry to create shawls to be given to parishioners or friends who are grieving, ill or in need of "hugs from God."
Yarn Ministry gives baby blankets to welcome the young additions to our parish family on the day of their baptism. They will be wrapped in God’s love. Prayer shawls are given to the older baptized and those who are ill or in need of comfort, to surround them with God’s grace and protection. Please tell one of our clergy of a need for anyone: parish member or friend beyond the church. Many shawls and blankets have been given as gifts to family and friends.
You can get involved:

Meetings are on the 2nd Sunday of the month, at 2-3:30pm, in the Commons Room (under the chapel). Come to knit or crochet in good company as we encourage each other. Yarn, instructions and lessons are available.

The November 8th meeting will begin with lunch at 12:45 pm to thank our many members who provided 90 baby blankets or prayer shawls distributed in our first year. We’ll gather in the Commons Room for soup, sandwiches and other potluck offerings. Let Cathy know if you are attending, and bringing food. Lunch will be followed by knitting in good company till 3pm. Monthly meetings are on the second Sunday in the Commons Room at 2-3:30 pm. Yarn, instructions and lessons are available; donations, yarn and new members always welcomed! Wednesday gatherings include socks lessons and follow the W.O.W. meal from 7-8:30. Contact Cathy Gier at yarnministry@ststephens.com or 952-926-0473.

Need gift ideas? Baby blankets or Prayer shawls are given as shower and personal gifts for a small commission. We can have them completed before Christmas.
